Seychelles-US discuss further strengthening relations

The further strengthening of the warm relations between Seychelles and the United States was top of the agenda in New York today when President Danny Faure met with the US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Tibor Nagy.

The two men met on the sidelines of the annual United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) debate by world leaders where President Faure spoke on Wednesday.

Mr Nagy told the President the US State Department is looking into the possibility of making regular consular visits to Seychelles to process visa requests from Seychellois wishing to travel to the United States. This would avoid Seychellois having to go to Mauritius to seek a visa.

The discussions also covered strengthening maritime security in Seychelles and the region and training and other cooperation in combating drug trafficking and financial crime.
