Shelda Commettant was born on December 4th, 1985, and is a proud mother of three children. She resides in Ile Perseverance 1. Her educational journey commenced at English River School, followed by La Retraite Primary School, and she completed her secondary education at English River School. She excelled academically, earning A levels in Geography, Psychology, and French. She furthered her studies by obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication from Manipal University in India.
Shelda began her professional career in 2008 at the National Assembly of Seychelles, where she gained invaluable experience in parliamentary processes and legislative affairs. Over the years, she has built a distinguished career as a Media and Communication Specialist, with expertise spanning government, parliamentary affairs, and the media. Her leadership in high-level advocacy, strategic communication, and capacity-building initiatives has significantly contributed to advancing both national and international policy objectives aimed at societal development.
Throughout her career, Shelda has consistently advised senior leadership, contributed to shaping legislative frameworks, and managed projects that enhance institutional visibility.
Her recent appointment as Chief Press Secretary in the Office of the President took effect on December 1st, 2025. Shelda’s professional journey also includes roles such as Director for Advocacy, Information, and Capacity Building at the IECD-UNESCO Category 2 Institute, as well as significant contributions as a journalist at Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation and as Special Advisor for Information at the Office of the Vice President.
Fluent in English and Creole, and proficient in French, Shelda is committed to continuous learning and professional development. She actively participates in various training programmes across Europe, Asia, and the United Kingdom. Outside of her professional pursuits, she enjoys reading online news, storytelling, and spending quality time with her family.
