PRESIDENT ANNOUNCES FURTHER GOVERNMENT RESTRUCTURING

President James Michel has announced further Government restructuring with the appointments of a Principal Secretary, CEO posts, new Boards of Parastatal companies as well as appointing Ambassadors to new diplomatic postings.

The President has appointed Mr. Charles Bastienne as the Principal Secretary for Immigration and Civil Status. The former Principal Secretary, Mrs. Marie-Ange Hoareau will be a consultant within the department. Mr. Bastienne was previously the CEO of the Housing Finance Company. Mr. Ronny Palmyre has been appointed the Acting CEO of the HFC, and Mr. Bastienne will become the Chairman of the Board of the HFC.

The President has appointed the following posts which are at Chief Executive Officer-level;

1.    Margaret Pillay- CEO National Human Resource Development Council
2.    Garry Albert- Deputy CEO Seychelles Ports Authority
3.    Jean-Michel Domingue- CEO Tertiary Education Commission (new agency)
4.    Fiona Ernesta- CEO Seychelles Qualifications Authority
5.    Jacqueline Pierre- CEO Agency for Social Protection (new agency)
6.    Brenda King- Deputy CEO Agency for Social Protection (new agency)
7.    Leslie Boniface -Registrar General
8.    Fred Hoareau- Deputy Registrar General

The former CEO of the NHRDC, Mr. Christian Cafrine has been appointed adviser to the Minister for Education.

All the appointments are with immediate effect.

The President has proposed Ambassadors to the following diplomatic missions, subject to agrément from the receiving states;

1.    Marie Louise Potter -Ambassador based in New York
2.    Bernard Shamlaye- Ambassador based in Paris
3.    Joseph Nourrice- Ambassador based in Addis Ababa
4.    Claude Morel- High Commissioner based in Pretoria
Other roving Ambassadors;
5.    Erna Athanasius- Ambassador for Children and Women' Affairs based in Seychelles- Ambassador Marie-Pierre Lloyd who previously held this post will be assigned other duties shortly.
6.    Ronny Jumeau- Ambassador for Climate Change Issues and Small island Developing States based in New York.
