Seychelles Mourns Passing Of Baroness Thatcher

Following the passing away of the former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Baroness Margaret Thatcher earlier today, President James Michel has extended his sincere condolences to the Government and People of the United Kingdom.

In a letter sent to Prime Minister David Cameron, President Michel spoke of the Baroness’ exceptional leadership qualities:
“The “Iron Lady” was a remarkable leader whose indomitable will, strength of character and clarity of vision epitomised the qualities of the country and nation that she so resolutely led for more than a decade. Baroness Thatcher was a central figure of the world international stage of the twentieth century.

She left an indelible mark on international politics and helped re-define international relations. Baroness Thatcher will also be remembered for her role in transforming British society and the economy.”

On behalf of the People and Government of Seychelles, President Michel reiterated his deepest sorrow for the loss of Baroness Thatcher and spoke of her lasting legacy as an inspiration for generations to come.
