President Faure receives the Chairman and Commissioner of the Human Rights Commission

President Danny Faure today met with the Chairman and members of the Human Rights Commission at State House.
The Chairman, Justice Bernardin Renaud, presented a copy of the Commission’s first Annual Report to the President.
The Commission raised certain issues concerning resources for the efficient operation of the Commission, the need for greater public awareness of the role of the Human Rights Commission, as well as the Commission’s wish to play a more proactive role in reviewing proposed legislation to ensure that human rights are properly considered and integrated at an early stage.
The President invited the Commission to make a presentation to the Cabinet of Ministers at its next meeting, when the Attorney General and senior Government officials will also be in attendance.
