Ambassador Dick Esparon bids Farewell to the Public Sector

President Wavel Ramkalawan received Ambassador Dick Esparon for a farewell courtesy call at State House this morning. He was accompanied on his visit by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Mr Sylvestre Radegonde.

On behalf of the people of Seychelles, the President conveyed his sincere appreciation to Ambassador Esparon for the invaluable contributions he has made in his various capacities. He also expressed hope, that despite his departure from the Public Service he will continue to contribute to the country.

"As a Seychellois with immense potential, I am convinced that whatever path you choose for the future, you will indeed continue to make important contribution towards the building our nation. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to you for your dedication during your many years of service to the people. As you embark on your new journey, my door remains open should you wish extend your support and knowledge for the greater good of our country” said President Ramkalawan.

The meeting was also an opportunity for the two former Members of the National Assembly to recount their experiences, share key moments and highlight some of the highpoints of Ambassador Esparon’s professional career.

Ambassador Esparon, has served for three terms in the National Assembly since the introduction of the Multi-party in 1993. He was appointed as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary in July 2017 and was accredited as Seychelles’ first resident High Commissioner to Delhi in February 2018. He was in post for three years until his appointment as resident Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, a post he held before being appointed as Secretary of State for Poverty Alleviation in 2016. He subsequently rejoined Foreign Affairs in 2019 in his capacity of an ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and earlier this year was appointed Ambassador to the Indian Ocean countries.

As a qualified Seychellois with a wealth of experience in various domains, Ambassador Esparon says he is proud of how far he has come and what he has achieved during his tenures but feels it is time to take a pause, re-evaluate his options and engage in other spheres to further make meaningful contributions to his country.
