The Vice-President receives the Chairman of the board of the group CWS Investment Limited

The Chairman of the board of the group Cable and Wireless Seychelles (CWS) Investment Limited, Mr Andrew Bainbridge paid a courtesy call on the Vice-President, Mr Ahmed Afif at State House yesterday afternoon. Mr Bainbridge is on an official visit in the country where he is meeting the other shareholders of Cable and Wireless, Seychelles.

The Vice-President welcomed him to State House and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to further strengthening the collaboration with Cable and Wireless, see what can be beneficial for the country and the Telecom sector all through a win-win partnership.

During the meeting, Mr Bainbridge briefed the Vice-President on the board’s meetings. Furthermore, they discussed avenues that could diversify the economy, aspects that could be explored to reduce the cost in the Telecom sector, advancements in digitizing of the economy among other topics.

To conclude the discussion, Vice President Afif said that the government is looking forward on receiving any proposal from Cable and Wireless for consideration and act as facilitator where appropriate to further upgrade the quality of service that they give to the population at large.

Speaking to the local press, Mr Bainbridge confirmed that the board’s meeting was a time for the shareholders to further discussed the opportunities that they could explore in the Telecom industry, how they go about responding to the government’s concerns regarding internet charges among other pertinent matters.

Also present at the meeting was the Minister for Finance, Economic Planning and Trade, Mr Naadir Hassan and Principal Secretary in the Department of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Mr Benjamin Choppy.
