President Ramkalawan welcomes Kenyan President on first State Visit to Seychelles

The Seychelles President, Mr. Wavel Ramkalawan warmly welcomed the arrival of His Excellency Hon. Uhuru Kenyatta, President of the Republic of Kenya, who has arrived this afternoon to begin a three-day state visit. A special arrival ceremony was held in honour of his arrival at the Seychelles International Airport.

President Kenyatta was greeted by President Wavel Ramkalawan and presented a bouquet of flowers by 9 years old Pointe Larue Primary pupil, Nael Nanon.

The Kenyan Head of State received a Presidential state welcome which included Military Guard of Honour by the Seychelles Defence Forces (SDF). President Ramkalawan then introduced His Excellency Hon. Uhuru Kenyatta to the Seychelles’ Vice-President, Mr. Ahmed Afif, the Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Roger Mancienne, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Rony Govinden, the President of the Court of Appeal, and Justice Anthony Fernando, the Leader of Government Business in the National Assembly, members of the Seychelles Cabinet of Ministers, Commissioner of Police, Mr Ted Barbe, the Chief of Defence Forces, Brigadier Michael Rosette among other key dignitaries.

President Kenyatta’s programme will include a call on President Ramkalawan at State House tomorrow morning, followed by bilateral discussions with the Cabinet of Ministers and signings of key agreements and Memorandums of Understanding. President Kenyatta will also address to an Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly as well as a visit, the Vallée de Mai World UNESCO Heritage site located on Praslin.      

The Kenyan President is being  accompanied by a high level delegation that includes the Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Amb. Raychelle Omamo, the Deputy Chief of Staff, Dr. Ruth Kagia, Kenyan Government officials and other high level State House staff.
