President Ramkalawan Meets Local Organising Committee Following Landmark Hosting of FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2025

The President of the Republic of Seychelles, Mr Wavel Ramkalawan, convened a meeting yesterday afternoon with members of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2025. The gathering, held at the NSC Hall in Roche Caïman, followed the successful conclusion of the global tournament on Sunday evening.

This year’s edition of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup marked a historic milestone, as Seychelles became the first African nation to host the competition—an accomplishment that has garnered widespread acclaim both locally and internationally.

President Ramkalawan expressed his sincere appreciation to the LOC for their unwavering commitment, resilience, and exemplary coordination throughout the preparation and execution of the event. He commended the team for upholding Seychelles’ international reputation as a capable and gracious host, despite the complexities inherent in organising an event of such scale.

“This was more than just a sporting tournament—it was a national effort that showcased our capacity, hospitality, and spirit to the world. Seychelles has every reason to be proud. I sincerely thank each one of you for your tireless commitment to ensuring the success of this event,” said the President.

Reflecting on the broader impact of the tournament, the President highlighted key achievements and the strategic importance of leveraging this momentum for future international engagements. He underscored the need to translate the experience gained into long-term benefits for the country’s sports sector.

Members of the LOC, in turn, conveyed their gratitude for the President’s steadfast support. They offered insights into the operational, logistical, and community-based aspects of the event, reiterating their pride in playing a role in what has become a defining chapter in Seychelles’ sporting and national narrative.

The meeting concluded with a collective resolve to preserve the tournament’s legacy by reinforcing efforts in sports development, youth empowerment, and fostering global cooperation through sport.
