President Wavel Ramkalawan, in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief of the Seychelles Defence Forces (SDF), has expressed his appreciation to the Seychelles Petroleum Company (SEYPEC) for its generous donation of two 21,000-litre JET A1 fuel Isotainers.
The official handover ceremony included a formal blessing of the new equipment, followed by an inspection and technical briefing conducted for the attending delegations.
In his remarks, the Chief of Defence Forces, Major General Michael Rosette expressed appreciation to SEYPEC for its steadfast partnership with the Defence Forces, a collaboration strengthened since the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding in 2022. He highlighted that this partnership has already delivered significant contributions, including the expansion of the Coast Guard’s fuel capacity and the donation of a 6,000-litre towable fuel bowser to the Air Force in 2023.
“These contributions have strengthened the operational readiness of both the Coast Guard and the Air Force, ensuring their uninterrupted ability to safeguard our maritime domain and protect our distant outer islands. The addition of the two isotainers provides vital logistical support, further enhancing the resilience, preparedness, and effectiveness of our Defence Forces,” said Major General Rosette.
Addressing the ceremony, SEYPEC’s Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Sarah Romain, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting Seychelles’ national security institutions. She noted that SEYPEC’s role goes beyond its core business, extending to meaningful partnerships that contribute to the nation’s stability and resilience. “We are proud to work hand in hand with the Seychelles Defence Forces in ensuring their capacity to meet current operational demands while preparing for future challenges. This donation is yet another demonstration of our dedication to safeguarding Seychelles’ sovereignty and well-being,” said Mrs. Romain.
The Government remains commitment to supporting the Seychelles Defence Forces and acknowledged SEYPEC’s leadership and vision in contributing to the security and sovereignty of the nation.
The President also joined the delegation in visiting the site of the ongoing construction of the new Seychelles Coast Guard Jetty, where he noted his satisfaction with the progress of works to date.
