The Office of the President would like to unequivocally refute the Press Statement released by the Office of the President of the United Seychelles Party, Dr. Patrick Herminie, dated 16th October 2025, in which he has claimed that the recently published appointment by the Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs undermines the integrity and spirit of the democratic transition.

It is important to clarify that the appointment in question was a transfer from one Government entity to another and not an appointment of someone who was not already employed in the public service. The process for this transfer was initiated in June 2025, and it was approved by the Public Service Bureau on 15th September 2025 in view that it was agreed that the person in question would remain with his previous employer whilst they hired a replacement to facilitate a handover of his work.

Consequently, the person was appointed to his current role on the 1st October 2025. We therefore request that, in the future, all the facts are well established to avoid such baseless claims that result in the marginalization of hard working civil servants.
