President Ramkalawan Honours Long-Serving Employees of the Ministry of Fisheries and Blue Economy

His Excellency President Wavel Ramkalawan, accompanied by First Lady Mrs. Linda Ramkalawan, presided over a distinguished Long Service Award Ceremony for the Ministry of Fisheries and the Blue Economy, held on Saturday evening at the Eden Bleu Hotel.

The ceremony paid tribute to the unwavering dedication of employees from various departments within the Ministry’s portfolio, including Fisheries, the Blue Economy, and the Seychelles Maritime Academy. Honourees were recognised for service milestones ranging from five to over forty years in the public sector, testament to their enduring contributions to the country’s vital maritime industries.

A highlight of the evening was the special recognition of three exemplary public servants,Mr. Phillip Michaud, Ms. Denis Fred, and Mrs. Gemma Souris,each of whom has dedicated over four decades to national service. They received high commendation for their extraordinary commitment and lasting impact on Seychelles’ development.

Delivering remarks on the occasion, Principal Minister and Minister for Fisheries and the Blue Economy, Mr. Jean-François Ferrari, praised the honourees for their steadfast service. "Each honoree, regardless of position, has demonstrated exceptional commitment to advancing our nation's maritime interests and contributing significantly to the sustainable development of our blue economy," Minister Ferrari affirmed.

In his keynote address, President Ramkalawan expressed deep appreciation for the awardees’ invaluable service to the nation. He lauded their professionalism and loyalty to public service, extending heartfelt congratulations and best wishes for their continued well-being.

As a symbolic gesture of gratitude, President Ramkalawan was presented with a model sailing shipan emblem of Seychelles’ proud maritime heritage and the Ministry’s forward-looking vision.

Also present at the event were the Minister for Employment and Social Affairs, Mrs. Patricia Francourt, Chief Secretary Mrs. Sheila Mohideen, and other senior officials.
