South Africa Supports Disaster Relief Efforts

 President James Michel met with the South African High Commissioner to Seychelles, Dr. Nomvuyo N. Nokwe, at State House this afternoon. 

High Commissioner Nokwe expressed South Africa's regret and sympathy concerning the material damages experience by Seychelles during story tropical storm Felleng in January this year, and said that South Africa would support Seychelles in its recovery efforts.

The President expressed his sincere gratitude to the Government and people of South Africa for their support and concern, as an expression of the friendship between the two countries.

President Michel and High Commissioner Nokwe discussed several areas of bilateral cooperation as well as matters of interest in regional affairs.

Following her meeting with the President, High Commissioner Nokwe made an official presentation of a donation of 1 million SA Rand (104,800 USD) from the Government of South Africa to the National Disaster Relief Fund, which was accepted by its Chairperson, Mrs. Lekha Nair.
