The Judiciary of Seychelles honoured exceptional service and unwavering dedication during its Annual Certificate Presentation Ceremony and Long Service Awards 2024, held on Friday evening at the Savoy Resort & Spa.
The distinguished event was attended by His Excellency President Wavel Ramkalawan, whose presence underscored the national significance of the ceremony.
The evening served a triple purpose: to acknowledge employees who successfully completed professional training programmes in 2024, to celebrate the long-standing contributions of judiciary personnel, and to mark Labour Day under the theme “Justice for All: A Shared Responsibility.”
A central moment of the evening was the presentation of Long Service Awards to 31 committed staff members, whose years of service ranged from five to 35. Among the most senior honourees were Mrs. Lathimy Emerite, Mrs. Quincy Famakinwa, and Mrs. Anne Magloire, each recognised for 35 years of exemplary service to the Judiciary and the Public Service.
Special commendation was also given to recent graduates of the Bar Vocational Course, who received their Bar Finals Certificates, formally marking their entry into the legal profession.
In his opening address, Chief Justice Ronny Govinden reaffirmed the Judiciary’s dedication to continuous professional growth and the vital role of lifelong learning in the legal field.
"In today's rapidly evolving world, continuous learning is not merely an option; it is a necessity," stated Chief Justice Govinden. "The legal landscape is constantly changing—new laws are enacted, judicial precedents evolve, and societal expectations shift."
Following the formal proceedings, guests were invited to a celebratory dinner and entertainment programme. The Chief Justice described the Judiciary as “one large family,” united by a shared commitment to justice and excellence.
The event brought together judges, judicial officers, Chief Secretary Mrs. Shella Mohideen, and employees from across all branches and levels of the institution, reinforcing a collective dedication to upholding the rule of law in the Republic of Seychelles.
