His Excellency Mr. Rohit Rathish, the newly appointed High Commissioner of the Republic of India to the Republic of Seychelles, presented his credentials to President Wavel Ramkalawan during an accreditation ceremony held at State House on Tuesday morning.
President Ramkalawan welcomed and congratulated His Excellency Mr. Rathish on his appointment, marking the beginning of his diplomatic mission to strengthen the enduring partnership between India and Seychelles.
During the ceremony, discussions centered on the robust bilateral relationship that exists between the two nations, highlighting areas of mutual cooperation and shared interests that have characterized India-Seychelles relations over the years.
“Excellency, it is a pleasure to welcome you to Seychelles. I wish to congratulate you on your accreditation as the new High Commissioner of the Republic of India to the Republic of Seychelles. Over five decades, India has been a steadfast partner, and our cooperation continues to grow from strength to strength. Government looks forward to further enhance the relationship between Seychelles and India.“
On his part, High Commissioner Rathish expressed honour of being received by President Ramkalawan at State House and reaffirmed his Government’s commitment towards further strengthening relations between India and Seychelles.
His Excellency Mr. Rohit Rathish becomes the 19th High Commissioner to be accredited to the Republic of Seychelles, succeeding His Excellency Mr. Kartik Pande. During his tenure, His Excellency Mr. Rathish will be based in Victoria.
Also present for the accreditation ceremony were the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Tourism Mr. Sylvestre Radegonde, Principal Secretary of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Ian Madeleine, and Director of Director General Regional Affairs Division, Mr Christian Faure and Third Secretary Bilateral Affairs Division, James Carpin.
Following his accreditation, High Commissioner Rathish also paid a courtesy call to the Vice-President of Seychelles, Mr Ahmed Afif.
